We want to go camping near Mt. St. Helens here in Washington. Any suggestions?

My husband and brother-in-law would prefer to be near a good fishing spot. I would love a campground with flush toilets and potable water available. We all would prefer a smaller campground without a bunch of RVs and generators at it. Thank you!

I’m not sure you will find anyplace that doesn’t have RVs with generators. You are less likely to hear generators if the campground has electrical hook-ups since the RVers will use those instead of their generators. Here are some suggestions:
Seaquest State Park is really nice and right by one of the Mt St Helens Interpretive Centers: http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Seaquest
Lewis and Clark State Park: http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Lewis%20%26%20Clark – a little smaller than Seaquest
You might also want to consider Merrill Lake – it is a Department of Natural Resources campground – and I haven’t been there for several years so I’m not sure what it is like now. It is very small and more primitive, but some improvements were made recently and it has a host so it might have more amenities than it did a few years ago – you could always call for more information: http://www.dnr.wa.gov/AboutDNR/ManagedLands/Pages/amp_na_merrill.aspx
Camano Island, Washington WA — Camano Island Waterfront – Enjoy a wonderful escape just 1 hour drive from Seattle. Whether for a weekend or week, relax in our cozy comfortable fully outfitted 1 bedroom cabin (can sleep up to 6). I decorate for the season–so this place is especially fun. A very private & quiet location to enjoy all that the outdoors can offer.
