What are some good, cheap camping grounds in southern California?
ByMy boyfriend and I want to do some summer camping. I’d prefer a woodsy area, like Big Bear or something, as opposed to a desert-y place like Cachuma. We’re limited on funds and will probably just be sleeping in the back of his Jeep. We’d like a place with fire pits, maybe somewhere to swim, we don’t wanna use the woods as our toilet, and water. Thanks in advance!

Check out Barton Flats. It is very woodsy with pine forrest’s and is absolutely beautiful, There are many good campgrounds in there. It’s about 30 min from Big Bear but there is a lot to do in that area if you like fishing, hiking. and I believe you can swim at the nearby Jenks lake. Just make sure that wherever you park you are not required to have an adventure pass, because they will fine you! I would say the average price is about $20 per night with access to showers and bathrooms although they are not that clean. Hope this helps
