What are the best places to camp in California along a river?

I love camping on rivers, but I’m not sure of any good ones in California. Any suggestions? I’d like to be right on the water if possible. Thanks so much!!
There are so many great rivers in the north part of the state like the Trinity river, the Eel, the Mad, the Russian, the Yuba. Get yourself a “California Road and Recreation Atlas” made by Benchmark, it will show you all the rivers and campgrounds.
