what happens after boot camp for the coast guard?
US Coast Guard- my friend joined in July and he’s from north FL
and went to NJ for boot camp.
Assuming he graduates after the customary 8 weeks,
what happens?
Will he be sent to another state, like MD or NC or out west to OR?
Or will he come back here and work one weekend a month?
Does he get shipped off to Iraq????
If he doesn’t graduate, does he come home for good?
How can I write him?
Does anyone out there know where you address a letter
to the US Coast Guard camp in New Jersey?
He asked me to write him
and no one seems to have a clue how to do that…

He will be assigned wherever we need him..he will not go straight to Iraq unless he’s in a PSU (reservists only) that is deploying soon after graduation..so odds are no. 50-50 on a boat or at a station on land. No telling where unless he got a guaranteed district. If he doesn’t graduate hes out for good. Write him often..it helps make the crappiest days a little better i boot camp..
