What is appropriate dress code for going into a military base?

I am journeying down to Fort Knox in Kentucky this weekend for “Family Day” and I was curious as to what the suggested dress would be. I am going down to visit a friend who is in boot-camp. His mother and I are spending all of Friday there. Any suggestions? (Close toed shoes, light colors, no jeans… anything!) Thank You!

clothes are a good idea.
other than that, don’t worry about it.
Summer casual.Cute is OK,trashy, while it would be appreciated by the recruits,is inappropriate.
There is no dress code, try not to look like slob or a terrorist, for your own sake, & be comfortable! You won’t be allowed anywhere where closed toe shoes would be an issue.
Sounds like this is an informal event, so you don’t have to worry about no jeans or closed-toed shoes or anything like that. Obviously, you don’t want to wear anything too revealing or T-shirts with offensive language, but anything else should be just fine.
no shorts that are to short no low cut shirts or sleeveless and you will be fine
fairly smart gave you the right advice.
As long as you aren’t trashy, anything is fine, including jeans.
Sarge had the best answer. I would definately wear comfy shoes, there may be a lot of walking from one place to another.
Wear nice clothing. Since the temperature is getting a bit chilly there, wear a jacket that you can take off if it gets too hot. If he is your boyfriend, try to look your best so he would want to show you off. Try to advoid t-shirts with strong politcal views.
It simple. Wear something that you wont be embarrassed to be seen in.
you can wear whatever you want. when i had my family day i was amazed at this gothic girl dressed up in all black, short black skirt and these really tall boots and fishnet stockings. not that theres anything wrong with that but i would suggest nice jeans and a nice top. you can go wrong with that!
