What kind of accent does one develop with Rosetta Stone French?

So, I’ve been doing Rosetta stone for 3 months. Levels 1 and 2. I also watch movies and listen to music in French, and I am impressed with my progress. Almost done with level two and to all the RS haters, this program WORKSat least for me.

That said, I am curious to know what accent I’m developing? I ask because in my business I communicate with French and French Canadian tourists. Recently I was speaking to travel agents in Canada and tried out my French chops. I asked the guy how my French was after he switched to English for my benefit (I have trouble understanding, it’s only been 3 months after all) and he sid it was good, that I had a nice accent (no homo on his part I’m sure) that got me thinking. I know Canadian French is different than French French like American English to UK English, am I sounding more Parisien?

I can tell for instance when a person studied English in England, like when I was in Paris and the hot blonde I asked directions from had this beautiful British-ish accent. My tour guide in Spain had a British way of speaking too. Am I going to be the weird Parisien sounding guy when I visit Montreal?

  1. Rickie says:

You won’t sound weird at all don’t worry for 2 reasons:
1 you really need to speak perfeclty for ppl to say your accent is from this or that part of the world so no you will still have your English accent
2 -HALF yes half of the city is made up of immigrants that DO speak good French but with a foreign accent so they won’t notice yours.
