Where is a good (Secluded) place to go camping within 100 miles of Minneapolis Minnesota?

A bunch of friends and I want to go camping. We don’t have a ton of money to be wasting on gas. We actually live in Red Wing but, it’s easier to say Minneapolis. We don’t mind backpacking in. We just want to go and hang out without getting yelled at for being noisy. Very few other campers if possible. Thank you!!! -Libby

I would look into some of the state/national forests as opposed to the state parks. They seem to have more rustic sites often with hike in sites.
If you can go during the week instead of weekend this will reduce the # of other campers.
Problem is, most people may hesitate to share their favorite spots with you here if you plan on being noisy.
I love secluded camping because there is no human noises interrupting the natural sounds.
By the way, I myself live within 50 miles of Red Wing over in WI. Just drove over this last weekend to ride the Cannon Valley Trail.
Any way good luck on the camping!
Here’s a good resource to finding some camping within the Minneaplois area:
