where is good a deep wood hiking area in Texas?

I am looking for a place hopefully around corpus christi texas that my party and I can hike at and camp. I want to to a backpacking trip where we hike out to a campsite (no electricity or accommodations) wake up the next morning and head on out to the next site and so on and so forth.

I really don’t know of any “deep woods” hiking around Corpus. The deep woods in Texas are all in East Texas and not along the Gulf Coast.
