Where should I camp in California?

I’m trying to find a remote location near LA / Bakersfield California to take my girlfriend camping. I would love to take her on a 3+ mile hiking trip ( I have done these in the past with much success ) for approximately 2 nights and 3 days. Yet, I’m having some trouble finding good information on places that aren’t going to be overrun by people, or have a swimming pool nearby. Any recommendations, advice, tips, experiences, etc are welcome. Thank you!
Looking for “remote” as in away from civilization if possible, thanks!

Check out places just north of Santa Barbara on the coast. I stayed at el capitan state beach last summer and it was fantastic. It’s about 25 minutes north of sb, you can go to the beach, hiking in the hills, smoke a ton of weed… Ahhh camping. I can’t tell if you wanted a pool or not, this place doesn’t have one. But there are menu campsites in that area and I’m sure they are all wonderful.
