Just looking for a good place, recommended place were there is a stream/river/body of natural flowing water, green trees and forested that allows camping. I’ve been outdoors many times with friends but never on my own. Thought it be a nice thing to do to clear my mind and relax! any recommendation? Anywhere in Cali! I mostly cook/bbq, fish, hike and enjoy green scenery. and when is optimal?

California has some beautiful spots much as you describe. One of our family favorites is Lee Vining creek which is just outside of the town of Lee Vining. The town sits on the hill overlooking Mono Lake and the creek and campgrounds are a very short drive away. Another favorite is Lone Pine creek. Another is Big Pine creek. Big Pine and Lone Pine creeks are both named for the towns they are close to. All three of these spots are off of US395 up through the Owens Valley of California.

One of my all time favorite spots to camp is Hobo Campground on the Kern River.
