Why does America hate the South so much?
I keep reading questions about rednecks, trailer trash and racists white people from the South and somehow if Obama does not carry a southern state we are all racists.
I live in Tn and travel all accross this country and I see more segragation in the suppossed liberal north east and mid west.
Is using terms like redneck, hillbilly, trailer park trash the same as using the “n” word or wet back when describing mexicans or any other ethnic slur and if so why is it ok? Because it refers to whites and that is ok?
For the record my family moved to the south from long island, NY and none of us would move back.
GatorBoy that was over 100 years ago. No one I know owned slaves and by the way people from the west such as MO and KS had slaves also. By bunching us all in a group shows your total lack of understanding anything. Should people from the south look at all people from NYC as either being in the mob or jewish? Of course not but then again your hatred of the south is simply that we vote conservative most of the time and do not subsribe to your liberal morals or lack of morals.

Some people are bigots, and really need someone to hate, that they feel is beneath them.
It is out of sheer ignorance, don’t be offended, they don’t know what they are missing. Keep it quiet or too many may move there.
The fact that they went to war for the right to treat human beings as inanimate objects and killed half a million people for that right doesn’t do anything for their credibility.
Neither does the fact that there has been practically zero cultural progression in the South for the past 150 years.
Neither does the fact that Southern states contribute the fewest resources to the US economy and receive the most resources from the federal government.
Neither does the fact that the South is more extremist conservative Christian than anywhere else in the US, while at the same time committing the most actions that conservative Christians despise than anywhere else in the US. Divorce rates, crime, drug and alcohol consumption, everything conservative Christians hate, they do it more than anyone.
Oh yeah, and Duke University is in the South. Everyone hates those guys.
The South was unfairly portrayed when the history of the War Between the States was written. As far as most people are concerned, the South was filled with evil slave owning ignorant trash – and the North was the valiant savior of all mankind. Granted, some Southern dickheads have done their fair share of exemplifying this caricature. But to think that all Southerners are backwoods squirrel eating fools is, in itself, foolish.
Ummmm…I thought that the South WAS America. So…America hates itself?
