Can I use the one pound propane bottles to run a small, 2 burner RV cooktop? Will a single stage reg work?

I want to run a 2 burner cooktop in a small trailer that does not have an on board propane bottle. Can I use the 1 lb bottles directly on the cooktop or is a regulator needed?
if the bottle will hook to the cook top with out leaking and you don’t put the bottle too close to the flam and a regulator should be used, the pressure is only about 3 psi at the burner, you’ll never be able to do that with just a valve.
No…a regulator is needed. and it should be a twin stage design. When you say you have a 2 burner RV cooktop, I assume this is built into your RV and not a seperate camping stove.
You should have the propane container outside, with a twin stage regulator mounted on it and then run a line inside to the cooktop. The line can’t run through a window or doorway. You need to have a hole drilled into the wall and pass the line through that way…
Especially in colder temperatures, the little one pounders will not vaporize enough to run a cooktop. You will need at least a 20lb cylinder if not bigger. You see, the cylinder is not just a storage container. It has to be large enough that it can absorb enough heat out of the air around it to make the liquid propane boil and produce vapour for the appliance. If it is too small, the cylinder will simply freeze up and the appliance will not get enough fuel to operate properly.
You really should be having a licenced gas-fitter look at this for you and make recommendations. There is little room for error when you are working with fuels like this. It is simply too dangerous to guess. Let a professional set this up for you and you can sleep well knowing it is a safe installation… Hope this helps!
