Have any of you Senior Citizens ever taken to the road in a RV?

Before the death of my husband, he asked me to travel around the country to find a better place for my allergies. He suggested that I stay in an area in which I like for a few months to test the allergens and to check out the locals and such.
To do this, I think I would be better off buying a small Class C RV so I will feel comfortable driving this. Do any of you have experience, or know someone who has lived like this for a period of time?
All input welcome!
Would you ever consider this option?

You got me dreaming.
I would love to do that! If I could get my wife to go for it and I could afford to do it I would do it in a heart beat.
Have friends that had a Motor home and they really liked it but he had to sell it cause it was getting to hard for them to drive.
I worked with someone who had a partner but they had no children. They retired in their late 50s, sold their house and as much of their belongings as they could and bought a motor home. They intended to see some of europe first, then get over to the US, but I don’t recall hearing how they fared.
I may persuade my husband to do something similar when we get older, it sounds like a great adventure. I guess your main concern would be security and personal safety, as you’d be traveling alone.
It is a great adventure, but it does cost alot for gas and to hook up anywhere you want to stay. And I wouldn’t want to do this alone. If you have someone who can come along and help share the expenses that would be great..I have known people to do this and love all the views and stops they take, lots of pictures taken, lots of difference people you will meet at these RV stops too.. Have fun!!!
Being alone…this would not appeal to me.
I think this is a great idea! But if you can’t countenance taking along a human companion for security, would a personal protection dog be more acceptable?

Unfortunately, in these times you can not take the chance of travelling completely on your own. There are too many predators out there!
I also suggest having someone you check in with regularly, that has an itinerary of your projected route. If you miss a check-up call to them, they would get in touch with the police in the closest town to where you should have been at that time.
You can not be too careful.
I wish I had the freedom to do something like this!
I encourage you. To date no one I know who has gone RVing has any regrets and they hook up with great new friends.
Yes, I would. Come and get me and we will tour the country. I hear the southwest’s drier clime is great for allergies and arthritis. Even tho I like to travel alone, it really is not safe for a woman.
A companion, a large dog, a handgun….whatever can give you security…..go for it!! Life is a blast and travel is the balm for many like me.
My husband and I have a small motorhome and the freedom it gives us to travel at will (work allowing!) is great. You should be ok on your own as long as you stay at licensed campsites and practise common sense! You can always return home if you get fed up!
One of the greatest pleasures of my late father’s life was he and my step mother “hitting the road in his Winnebago.
They loaded up their dogs and drove from Cleveland to Birmingham and Atlanta where my sister and I live.
If you live in the midwest be sure to ask your dealer for any clubs that are in your area as some groups travel to various events and get discounted tickets.
I met some members of the Northeastern Ohio Winnebago Owners at my dad’s funeral.
RVing is great for some people and is a wonderful way to meet new friends.
