How do I properly light and operate a Pop up campers furnace?
ByIts a propane furnace and im unsure on how to use it properly and safely. I know that there is a control box under the table in our camper that has an off switch and what seems to be a heat slider. The camper is a 2000 Viking im not sure what the model is or anything but were going camping this weekend and its suppose to get cold and was wondering how to use it. Thanks.

look on the metal panel that covers the furnace on the outside, there should be some instructions, you need to light the pilot light first there are usually built in fail safes, so if the pilot light is not lit no propane is supposed to flow. (the hot water heater, if you have one is set up similarly) this is to prevent big booms. Propane is actually a deadly odorless gas. the reason it stinks so bad is to save your life. If you smell propane inside a closed area it can overcome and kill you. Many people over the years have died by accident So if propane is leaking turn the valve off at the cylinder. (and to save your propane always turn off the tank when traveling. Once you get the pilot lit to work, after that you should have no problem, if you keep smelling propane you have to get a squirt bottle of liquid dish detergent and water, and start at the propane tank and squirt every connection until you find one that bubbles, then tighten, or fix the leak somehow. good luck
