How to properly care for an RV with a Rubber roof?
Is a UV protectant needed? Or just keeping it clean (and caulked if needed) and what product for cleaning it?
I’ve researched online and get everything from using Comet to water to clean and then 303 aerospace protectant once clean.
jayt: Thanks!! Seems you know your RVs! Purple wha?? (for those black streaks. I have ‘Full Time Choice-RV Care’ Used it on RV sides and yes then rinse thoroughly with water.

I have had a number of rvs over the years, rubber roofs are very durable if taken care of, the best thing to use if you are going to keep a good eye on it is plain old dawn dish liquid and a soft brush and wash the roof at least every 6 months, once in spring and once in fall. for stubborn stains on the sides of the rv like the black streaks is purple power straight but don’t let it sit very long no more than 30 seconds and then rub it with a rag or brush and then wash off immediately. if you don’t it will eat the paint off, Now back to the roof, after scrubbing it with the brush and Dawn liquid, let is dry for a day is best, and then use a self leveling caulk, i usually get mine at the rv center at ocean lakes resort in myrtle beach where mine is stored. But any local RV dealers parts dept should carry it but the self leveling is very important, AND DON’T SKIMP ON IT. Its not too expensive, and caulk everything, side joints, skylights, around any ac units, antennas, pretty much any seam up there. Here is why, Its easier to keep a leak from happening with a little effort than it is to find a leak and by then half your ceiling inside is ruined and prob the walls as well. It gets very costly once one starts leaking. If i can be anymore help just let me know email is jaynik123@yahoo.com
there are UV protectants you can use but i would consult your RV manufacter before using anything to see what they recommend. This way you avoid any warrenty issues
