Is it true that dog flea collars can also be used in small compartments to repell spiders ?

I was told at an RV camping site that you can cut up flea collars and put pieces in
small boxes to repel spiders, would this really work?
Maybe I should have said to Kill spiders

I really don’t know, but here’s my thoughts.

Fleas probably find their hosts by smell, so the smell of a flea-repelling (as opposed to flea-killing) substance keeps them away. But spiders may not even smell at all. They don’t need to, since they sit and wait for food to get caught in their webs, or they hunt it by sight.

Perhaps NONE of this is relevant, but there it is.

It’s pretty unlikely, but you can check out this website for other more reliable methods to get rid of spiders.
