Is there a replacement desiel engine for my 1996 Ford 350 Econoline?

My 1996 Coachman RV uses a Ford 350 Econoline engine, a V10. I would like to switch engines so I can use bio-desiel fuel. Would the current turbo desiel and transmission be able to be installed?

It would be easier to swap in a 1996 engine/tranny from a wrecked F350. Done properly, it would just bolt and plug in, wouldn’t even require splicing of wires.

Swapping across years or chassis can be harder due to changes in wiring, clearances, mounts etc. Smog laws also make that more complicated. Legally if the engine is from a newer year or a different chassis, it needs one-time sign-off from a special smog referee. It’s illegal to put an older engine into a newer chassis.

E350′s should be able to use the Powerstroke 7.3L or the smaller 6L diesel engines. My minibus, which is a 2000, has the diesel option. The year shouldn’t matter much as Ford haven’t changed their large van design in like a decade or two.
