Why kind and type of vehicle? Looking to buy….?

Looking to buy a used vehicle. Asking for some suggestions. Here are some things I am looking for in a vehicle:
SUV or pickup, 4-door, towing capabilities (for a small camper or pop-up), 5+ passenger seating, 4-wheel drive (optional)
What do you suggest? There are so many choices out there. What is reliable?
Serious replies please.
Thanks in advance.

I would go for a Nissan Pathfinder or a Toyota 4runner. Both excellent reliable vehicle. Yes, the body may rust a little on the toyota but it’s totally worth it, they can go forever. I have a 99 Pathfinder with 140,000 kms 4wd loaded for 9,000 can.
Only you can answer that question. Go out and look at A LOT of vehicles. You will know what fits your budget, family and style best. Then get it checked by an independent mechanic, and get a CarFax on it. $50 is a lot cheaper than a new transmission or frame problems from a previous accident.
That said, most of the Japanese SUV’s fit your bill. Make sure you get one with a factory towing package and that you will not be towing more than it is rated for. You can check the factory specs at autotrader.com. Just look up a vehicle like you are looking at, and click the tab for factory specs.
Any of the fullsize pickups will do what you are asking. I prefer a Ford, but all are pretty good if they are properly cared for.
I have a Mercedes ML320. It could easily tow a pop-up, seats 5 with cargo room, has full time four wheel drive, and loads of safety features. Mine is a 2000, I looked up the value today, and it its just about $17,500, so they really aren’t that expensive, used.
Good luck, I hope this helps. Don’t buy a car you don’t like.
You’ve asked a pretty loaded question. My suggestion to you is to research trucks and SUVs at http://www.edmunds.com
That way you can spend some time looking at the vehicles and reading comments.
Obviously, the Ford F150 would probably be your most popular choice. It has been the best selling pickup for 28 years running. And there are so many out there, most mechanics are familiar with them.
Since I used to own one, I might suggest the Chevy TrailBlazer EXT or the GMC Envoy XL. Both vehicles are 7 seater SUVs, have excellent power, and aren’t too small but at the same time, aren’t too big.
