I hear that Estes Park is even more beautiful and has more outdoor activities available. We would be driving there from texas and pulling a popup camper along with us. Can anyone tell me anything about state parks (pricing, location, etc.) , camping, fly fishing opportunites (not a guide service), other outdoor activities. White water rafting anywhere nearby? Nearby cities with descent shopping opportunities (for the lady)? Any other fun ideas? Any information would helpful and greatly appreciated. Thankyou for your time.

I live in a small (7,500 people) suburban town in Connecticut, and I feel like we have way more cops than will ever be necessary working. Our town website shows that there are 16 policemen and policewomen currently with our PD, the majority of whom are in the patrol division. They split the day into three 8.5-hour shifts (half an hour overlapping I guess). The are of my town is just over 12 square miles.

I ask this not because I have a personal problem with police or think we’re being watched too much or anything, but because the police in town seldom really seem to be doing anything. Those out in their cars are usually parked in front of the fire department, two cars together (one facing the road, one facing away so that the driver windows are right next to each other) or are just meandering around town. I live on a dead end, and a few days a week, a cop will drive to the end of the street and just park there for a few hours. I like to go on late-night drives (like, 1-3AM when I can’t sleep), and I can’t even count how many times I pass policemen driving into the bordering town. Both towns are absolutely dead, and yet I’ll usually pass at least three cops camped in a parking lot (usually there’s one pair together), and actually drive by a few policemen (or have some try to follow me for a while), all while not driving over ten miles on one road.

Are all these policemen honestly necessary? I don’t know if maybe I don’t understand exactly what cops do all the time, or maybe it’s just one of those things nobody speaks about because it’s not kosher, but it seems silly to me. Policemen are paid on average around $45,000 a year, but it seems like the most police do in my area is give cars speeding tickets.

By the way, “How to Survive a Shipwreck” is printed out on a different paper.

On Sunday after church, we will take the scows down Rock Creek, starting at 12th St. Take the left fork if it actually exists.
Once the raft is ready, head up to the north point of Arbuckle Lake, go up the middle finger, and head up the stream until it forks. Take the left fork, and then continue until it forks again. Take the right fork. Continue until it forks again. Left fork. Continue, left fork. You will end up in Big Sandy Creek. Then go on, right fork. Then left. On the specified turnaround date or once it ends, whichever comes first, turn around. If it flows quickly away from the lake, turn around Tuesday. If it flows quickly toward the lake, turn around Thursday. If it flows too quickly, stay at the lake and figure out another plan. Anchor whenever away from people. A more reliable description is in the map I put together.
Write down every turn you make, as you may make a wrong turn and it would be no good if you get lost. I didn’t see any towns near water on the map.
Bathing can be done in freshwater spots when we find them. What you can do to bathe is get in the scow, row somewhere where nobody can see, use some of that Camping Soap they have at Wal-Mart, and then change aboard the scow. You don’t have to get naked. You can take off your clothes in the water, but remember to put them back on before you board the raft again, otherwise we will have some rather awkward moments.
If anyone has to defecate, speak up, we will anchor, you can row to shore in a scow (grab a shovel), dig a hole, use it, use some of that Camping Toilet Paper they have at Wal-Mart (real TP will be brought incase of *malfunction*), fill the hole back up, WASH YOUR HANDS, then come back. If you don’t wash your hands and we find out, you will be physically *removed* from the raft, or forced to wash them in sight of all, depending on how many times this occurs and resistance to forced washing. You will be shown how to use the soap.
This trip will take us approximately 52 miles. It should take a week using this old fashioned technique.
We will (depending on clothes found) have an 1890s imitation type thing, so try to find any clothes of the style. Get clothes, patterns (make them), and take them with us on the raft.
To get food, we will fish. Someone has to know what to do with the fish once we catch it. It has to be cooked somehow, otherwise we can’t eat it. We will bring along a camping stove to cook on, someone has to figure out how to clean the pans, how to grease them without butter or anything like it. Water can be taken from freshwater spots and purified with the stuff they sell at Wal-Mart.
For light, we will use Mom’s oil lamp. We must have plenty of oil for it so we won’t
end up in the dark halfway through the trip. When it’s time to sleep, we will anchor and
sleep right on the deck. Anyone who may roll overboard during the night can go in the
cabin to sleep. If any unexpected weather occurs, we will anchor and go into the cabin
until it passes. The cabin is small, so if the rain continues into the night we will have to
sleep sitting up.
Don’t forget about the dogs. They have to get rid of waste just like us. Someone has to take them to shore several times a day to let them do their duties. I made a couple leashes for them. If they escape, they’re gone. As a matter of fact, I’ll walk them myself. That’s settled.
Sorry, I copy and pasted from word. It messed up my paragraphs and stuff.
This is a wooden raft, I’m going 1894 style!! WOO! No rubber not-even-a-raft-by-definition thing for me!!
No, it’s not an IQ question. I really want to know! I don’t wanna end up out in the middle of who-knows-where and say “Hmm… Now I forgot to mention on the plan, how are we gonna…”

i have also dreamed of being famous i know its everyones dream to be but i am thirteen and i love to sing and i am really funny i made over 50 videos and all i heard my father say was you are going to be on saturday night live or you should have your own show you are really good at doing these kind of things. i was a dancer until i was in 5th grade then started to focus on figure skating i do freestyle and ice dancing. i have an amazing voice i am going to acting camps and voice lessons. i am also in acting classes at school i lovee itt. i am going to do school plays when school starts up again. one thing when you are famous you have to live in california or florida i am a massachusetts girl. i am nowhere close to there. but i live near new york city and boston. i would love!!!! to be on a commercial or my own tv show. but i doubt it will happen because i am never moving out of massachusetts anything i can do if i am gonna be a massachusetts girl my whole life? thanks!!
