I would like to tow my 1998 GMC suburban behind my RV and would like to know what options are available in using a brake controller (or other device) to supplement the over all braking power by leveraging the towed vehicle braking system. There is a product called ‘Brake Buddy’ but they start at >$800 up to $1,500 but brake controllers if usable, max at $200 making it more cost effective. The RV has a 7 prong quick connect which includes an electric brake controller. Is there a controller of some sort that might permit me to interface directly back to the 1998 Suburban in any way which will respond to the 12volt electric braking 7Pin connector?

I have had my motorhome for about a year now and have been shopping around for vehicles that can be towed with all 4 wheels down and that matches my motorhomes color.

I remember, however, that I have a 2000 BMW 540i sitting in my warehouse that I don’t drive anymore, but I do know that a lot of manual cars can be flat towed, and it matches the majority of my motorhome perfectly.

Can this car be towed? It’s a sport model with a V8, one step below the M series, if that matters.

The car we purchased recently (a 94 Saturn SW2) was owned by a couple who bought it new, but used it strictly for pulling behind their Winnebago. They’d only use it for traveling around when they got to their destinations, but most of the miles on the odometer are “cruising in neutral” miles, I assume.

If I’m mistaken on that one, correct me, by the way.

Here’s the thing: Can that type of situation adversely affect the car in any way? It would seem like it’s a good thing…less wear on the motor, but can being pulled behind an RV cause any other problems?

Other than road dust, that is….
