I’ve always kind of wanted to do this. How much does it cost? Is it practical?
What if you had a large plot of land, and stuck panels throughout it?
Though if you had a large plot of land you could also do wind power… Hmm… Well wind is more of a vertical space requirement, and solar is more of a horizontal, so maybe you could do both. I dunno.

Assuming the solar panels are not connected to the power grid, and assuming an average number of miles traveled per year (say 12,000), and without discussing battery, motor, range or other issues – but assuming it’s 100% electric (not a hybrid), and assuming plenty of sun location, how many watts of installed solar capacity is needed to power the car (visualize a pratical car like the EV1 – not like the “cars” they have in the World Solar Challenge race) w/o any other power source? Err on the side of a few too many watts rather than not enough.

Ok, so I went to a camp in Colorado in the middle of June, and I got an extremely bad sunburn. The sunburn appeared to be maroon red, and of course that was a long time ago… Well, I still have the redness in the spots where the sunburn was, but NO pain, NO “hotness feeling”, basically I feel like nothing is there, but the redness remains. It has been about 3 months since the incident, and I am very concerned about my face because the redness has not disappeared. If this remains for the rest of my life I will probably hate myself because I already have acne that might scar. Anyone have any suggestions? Is this sunburn scarring or what is occuring in my skin? ANY input will be gladly accepted I am going crazy over here. Rubbing aloe on my face every chance I get!
I don’t think it is a tan because the area is red not a brownish color.

So I just got married in New Mexico on Sunday, March 21st 2010, and filed the paperwork the next day. It was after I filed the paperwork that the county clerk people finally decided they could answer the questions I had been trying to ask all along. That yes, if I had signed the marriage certificate with my desired new last name, that it would be official. Needless to say, I was and still am, very upset by this.
My husband and I want to change our last names to something completely different, but now, the only way to do so is to go through the court system and spend over 200 dollars per person and an average of 30-90 days. Not to mention the 2 weeks of paper publications.
So my question is simple. Is there a way for just one of us to go through the name change process and have the other be able to change their name based on the others new last name? Would taking the judge’s name change order to the county clerk’s marriage office work? (They refuse to answer me on whether or not I could bring an order in and have them change the name on the marriage license.) Could we just go together to the social security office with the judge’s order and have the name changed there for both of us? Or do we really have to get the name changed at court for the two of us?
I’m fairly certain there is no mention of this type of thing anywhere online as I have been looking for two days now. Please respond and let me know. I need to get the name changed soon before heading to boot camp next month.

okay so i’ve been talking to this guy for a while now ..we’re not official ‘boyfriend girlfriend’ ..we’re not going outt or anything but we’re together.. or were =/ anyway, he just got back from boot camp and is now a US Marine. i know its hard having a relationship in this situation but thats not even my point. while he was away, we wrote to each other and all that and he acutally wanted me to come to his graduation. [mee, out of all people ..who woulda thought] .. i was happy .. and i actually went .. i flew to south carolina with his family to see him. we got back a few days ago and hes been ignoring me ever since. and the thing is i have no idea why! he isnt answering my phone calls, my text messages, my IMs .. NOTHING! could i have done something wrong? i dont think i have… but i’m going crazy i have no idea what is going on! i mean, if he doesnt like me anymore or if something else is going on i just wish he could at least talk to me about it instead of ignoring me..

So I went to camp and found out that a REALLY cute guy liked me. But it was too late to get his number. So my friend got it for me through his friend that she liked and I’ve texted him like 5 times in the last 3 to 4 days. He hasn’t answered!! I’m worried I completely ruined my chances!! I know this sounds really stupid, but I really liked the guy. But he lives in Kansas and I live in Oklahoma… What should I do?? Have I completely ruined my chances???

I have quite a few people I need to buy for this year, but don’t really have an idea of what or where to start. If I tell you a little bit about the people, could you help me think of presents that might work? My budget is pretty open.

Fiance: Already ordered him a Roku netflix player – need another idea, too. He’s a complete and total movie freak. He’s also really into martial arts, running, cooking, travel, and music. He already has all the clothes/shoes/accessories that he wants. He also really enjoys camping and the outdoors. He wanted a kayak, but we have no place to store that in our condo. He’s a videographer by profession, so anything related to that would be good, but would also probably be more than I can afford. Any ideas?

Father: No idea. Help! He’s very much a guy’s guy, and loves woodworking and lathe work, and motorcycles (BMW – he’s not a Harley guy or a biker type – just likes to ride.) He also likes music to some degree.

Fiance’s mother: Again, help me. She already HAS everything she could possibly want, and has everything she could want/need to decorate her home. She runs a franchise jewelry business, and travels a LOT. She’s really kind of a fun-spirited hippy chick. I like her. :-)

Fiance’s Father/Stepmom: This is what’s particularly stumping me. They are very well traveled and affluent – it’s truly a ‘what to get the couple who has everything’ question. They work together as a team in higher education, travel all over the world constantly, and are highly interested in diplomacy, peace in the Middle East, and humanitarianism.

My sister: She is married and has 6 children. She is a nurse, and so is her husband. I’d like to get a ‘family present’, so I don’t have to buy 8. She’s into Yoga a lot lately, and loves to read.

My brother: Lives in Alaska with his wife and 16 year old daughter. He’s a machinist, gun enthusiast, and hunter. He also loves motorcycles, snomobiling, and paintball. Read: Redneck. I would also like to get a ‘family gift’ for them as well.

My aunt: We are visiting her over the holidays, and I’d like to give her a ‘thank you’ gift for having us. She is in her late 60′s, and enjoys dogs, gardening, cooking, wine, and travel.

I am traveling outside the US for the first time (besides going to Mexico in kindergarden) with school. Our teacher said that most of the time we will be with a tour guide but we will have a few hours in the afternoon just wandering around. I know a little spanish and latin and a few words in italian… Will I be completely lost or do most people speak a little english? Thanks!

I’d like to drive all the way around Australia, but have only seen rental cars that let you travel in one half or the other. None allow me to drive from Sydney to Perth, or Perth to Sydney. The only similar option I’ve seen is to rent a small camper (called Caravan?), but it requires too much gas.

Has anyone heard of a car rental agency that let you drive all the way around?

Also, feel free to add anything else, like special places to visit, special things to do, etc.

Thanks mates.
Thank you all very much. Lots of great info & it’s impossible to pick a best answer.

So far, car hire fine print doesn’t allow a complete crossing, but maybe some are changing or I need to do more research. I hadn’t heard of Apollo, so thanks for that. I don’t think I have time to buy/sell a car, plus if I had a breakdown I’d be very stuck. I need something very dependable. I need to reconsider a campervan. I like the idea of motels to meet more Ozzies & spread out more tourist $, but maybe not an option. I do have a decent idea how big Oz is, & I’ve driven all around the US in the past 6 years. I’ve detailed the trip on a MS Excel document & have it at around 3 1/2 – 4 weeks so far, that’s including going to Esperance, the SW cape, Monkey Mia, Kakadu, GBR, and the 12 (11) Apostles. But I know it’ll take at least 5 – 6 weeks, & that’s scooting along briskly, & I haven’t made plans to Uluru yet (prob too far). It also doesn’t include sunrise/sunset times & all those details
