I really don’t know what to do for him this year. I was thinking of taking him camping and/or fishing, buying him some new clothes, and making him a cake and card. What else can I make easily- a diy project? He likes turtles and our cats, he likes nature and reading, he likes to play games like checkers and othello, he’s older than the average dad for a 14 year old, he likes jeans, he’s not really satisfied with anything I get him, he likes Bob Dylan and some jazz, he always loses stuff, he’s the type of guy that uses duct tape for everything. Please help me, because I want to make or get him something special this year.

Family dispute on entering father’s estate into probate?
Posted by: | CommentsMy father passed away in February of 2008. My parents were divorced and never remarried. The Will he left stated that all assets go to the estate, and the estate goes only to the heirs.
The estate is very small, valued under $30k. There is no real estate, only personal affects, a pickup truck, and a travel trailer. We (the heirs) are content to liquidate assets and split evenly. We created a small estate using affadavits of heirship and have a federal tax id etc, everything needed to make the estate legitimate.
Our grandmother (his mother) has been interfering since the beginning. She has the keys and titles to the truck and the trailer and refuses to give them to us unless we enter the estate into probate, effectively blocking the sale of the truck and the trailer. This “standoff” of hers has been going on for over a year, even after a lawyer told her that only the heirs, not her, could enter an estate into probate. We’ve been content not to push the issue with her since she is family, but at some point she will need to hand over the rest of our property.
Somehow she has managed to get a court hearing and is not only attempting to get it into probate against the will of the heirs, but also to place our uncle as executor.
How is this possible? We thought only we could enter it into probate? What should we do?

What are good fathers day ideas?
Posted by: | CommentsI haven’t decided what to get my dad for fathers day. Last night we camped out on our deck and i asked him and he said a jayhawk license plate for the front of his car. My mom says she’ll help in whatever i choose. I want to get him something else but can’t decide. Last year i got him the American Idol Encore CD,Royals online stats, and a card. What should I do this year besides the Jayhawk License Plate? He works at a health insurance company, he also referees, umpires, and officials city league and high school sports games. He likes KU, Kansas City Cheifs, Kansas City Royals, and doesn’t really have a favorite NBA team. What should i give him?
