What is the best 2-day hike in Mt. Rainier national park or Washington State in general?
Posted by: | CommentsHello, I am planning a 2-day hiking trip in Washington State during the month of August. I am coming from the Tri-cities area and meeting some people from Seattle, so Mt. Rainier NP seems like an obvious possibility based on its location (although we would consider anything else reasonably close as well). We are experienced hikers and are in shape but have no technical experience (i.e., climbing Rainier is out of our league). We would like to avoid the crowds and are willing to camp/go backcountry if that helps find solitude. Of course, that means we would need to be able to obtain any necessary permits in the less-than-two months that we have before going. Any suggestions for challenging two-day hikes in the area?
Thanks for the PCT suggestion. That stretch looks promising, but I think 68 miles is too far for us (we have only two full days). Also, I read somewhere that that stretch of the PCT is closed right now. Any other suggestions for best parts of the PCT?

Anyone know of good places to both camp and hike in New England?
Posted by: | CommentsI live in connecticut and want to camp and hike next year.
I live in a city of about 100,000 people in a state with a bazillion and I’m sick of it. I want to move to a place where I can be more self sufficient. I’d like to be able to grow some of my own food, do some hunting and fishing, but still be able to hit a Walmart within 50 miles – and all in Idaho, which I’m convinced in heaven in the US.
We are going on a three day snow shoe hike in Colorado, any advise on camping warmly?
Posted by: | CommentsWe will be in the rocky mountain national park in mid may, so there will still be plenty of snow on the ground. I have plenty of good warm weather clothes, an external frame back pack to carry plenty of gear and a decent kelty sleeping bag, rated to 0 degrees (i think) my big question is if any one has suggestions on whether or not to use a foam mat to sleep on, a cot, or any ideas on what could be useful after the we get to the camp site, like tips on best location to put up the tent….or any advise someone has at all on cold weather camping. Thanks!!

Places to hike and camp in Missouri?
Posted by: | CommentsPreferably in the north part of the state. Suggestions?
Agreed. I hate Missouri.
Looking for anyone that has some input on where a good place to camp may be with close proximity to multiple 14ers. Was thinking about Horn Fork Basin or Upper Missouri Gulch which I can access at least 3 hikes. Any other recommendations. Thanks all.
Hike to the beach with my friends?
Posted by: | CommentsI live approximately 250 miles away from Savannah, Georgia and was wondering if it would be realistically possible for a few friends and me (Ages: 16-17) to hike roadside (on roadways that have adequate space for pedestrians…no highways) from our town to a beach near Savannah while camping in areas along the way (such as public parks). I am mostly wondering if this is legal and safe and if you think it would be realistic to complete in less than one month over the summer. We would most likely bypass Atlanta.
