If a father has to pay $400.00 a month in child support or risk being put into jail or not being able to see his children( and has trouble seeing them anyways, because of transportation problems, and the mother will not take the children to seem him or try to meet him half way) Can anything be changed? Supposedly one child is 20 and in college and the other is 18, and will be a senior in High School. They both work. One lives with the grandparents(mom’s parents) and the other one,who I thought lived with grandparents also, supposedly still sleeps the mom’s house, but spends a lot of time at the grandparents. My friend thinks the $400 is not being spent correctly. Its understandable that a lot of kids want a job to be able to buy some items and save up for college, but my friend mentioned that he thinks that his ex is using for the wrong things, like getting tatoos, too by drinks, and support children that are not his. She is married to one one man and have two biolgical children by him. There is also a middle child by another man. So this means that she has 5 children by 3 different men. 2 from a divorce. The 3rd by some man, while she cheated on her first husband. And then gets married to another man. Also the ages of the 1st 4 children are 20-16, and supposedly the 2 oldest daughters or sharing a car, but the oldest one (my friends biological child) had to pay her mothers car insurance if she wanted to use the car, and it was high because her mother has had a lot of DIUs. Could there also be a possiblity of parent alienation syndrome. I understand some children might be closer to one parent then the other, but my friend thinks that the mother is telling the children stuff that will want them to avoid him. And one more thing about the money. He is trying to live off unemployment and non-tax jobs, that have not been paying him correctly. I have offered to help out a little bit, but can only do so much. So, if he can prove that she is causing parent alienation, and that she is not using the money for the children(really his, not the other 3) can something be done? This is in Alabama. He lives in Birmingham, they live 2 hours away. If the kids had cars to see their father, could they come see them, and then he would be somewhat taking care of them, and not have to pay child support. Also, does Alabama have a law where a parent can give child support for school and camp activities, so they know where it is going, and knows it will go for a good cause, and not to somebody who might not use it, for what its purpose is.
ok, first of all I am only asking from what my friend has told me. I am actually his room mate. Supposedly he has to pay some back child support, that he was not able to pay. He told me that in some cases you do have to pay if the child is in college. However, because the legal documents that he and his ex signed did not say anything about paying for college expenses he does not have too. I think if he is paying anything for the $20 year old that it is because he was late on payments before hand. I am not sure exactly, but I think in the state of Alabama it is when the child turns 18 or when they graduate High School, so that might not be until they are 19, depending on when their birthday falls. Even when the youngest one does graduate which will be next may (she will turn 19 in dec of 2010). He will still have to probably pay child support, until he is caught up on everything. Supposedly he was not having to pay child support, but when his son came to visit him over christmas,
a few months later a sharif comes by with papers about paying child support. My friend goes to court about it, and they claim that he has a lot of money. However it is because of a bucket of money that his son saw in his apartment and thought it was his dads. That money was actually from me, to give to his daughter for her birthday, but it got stolen from somebody. and her dad already paid me back for it. so he does not have as much as people think he has

I just received an offer from the company I have my car loan through. I can take a month off from making my regular payment if a send in a $25 processing fee. I am really tempted to do so as I would love to buy camping supplies so I can take my daughter camping. However, I know it is probably not a good idea. What do you think? My regular payment is $285. Thanks!
I would make my final payment larger. I was told the next payment I would make after the skipped payment would satify the interest and the principle from the missed payment would be pushed to the end of the loan and added to my final payment. Not sure what that would mean exactly.

We just sold our 1991 motorhome and we were very honest with the issues that were related to it. They came and gave us a bank drawn check and our bank verified funds, then we went to the DMV with them and after they left us it broke down and now they’re threatening us with stopping payment on the check, etc. What are our rights? It’s totally registered to them now. And he’s saying that’s the reason the check was written like it was…not certified…so there’d be a 3 day grace period in case anything went wrong with the rv. Can you help? We don’t know where to turn.
I need to add that the check was made out to me, my husband, and the buyer. We all signed it and then deposited it in my account. Therefore we can not take the check to their bank and cash it. And now the buyer is threatening to stop payment on the check becaust the rv broke after he took possesion of it. There were no warranties offered by us or anyone else and they never had an independent mechanic look at it. Again, we were very honest with the issues that the rv has…but it has been sitting in storage since October…we have not driven it at all since we parked it in storage.
