From voaspecialenglish.com | http Wayne Irving drove across the United States to tell people about the dangers of sending text messages while driving. In 2008, nearly 6000 Americans died in crashes involving drivers who were busy doing something other than driving. Wayne Irving is a developer of computer software. He created a software program to help people resist the urge to use their cell phones while driving. WAYNE IRVING: “It was specifically built for people who desire to be responsible, who are looking for a solution to help them not get a ticket, not get in an accident, not risk their life.” Irving calls his software the SMS Replier. It lets drivers get control of their smartphones while driving. The phone sends a message informing callers that the person is busy driving and cannot answer. WAYNE IRVING: “Everything is going to the smartphones. The smartphone is the new laptop. It’s the new notebook computer. They’re making them bigger. They’re making them more feature-rich. They’re stronger, they’re more powerful than desktops were just three years ago.” Irving drove his recreational vehicle from California to the National Distracted Driving Summit in Washington, DC Along the way, more than ten thousand people signed the vehicle to show support for his cause. The SMS Replier is only one of many programs that have been created to reduce traffic accidents. For example, the Ford Motor Company is putting one such program in some of its car models to help young drivers

Hundreds turn out to oppose RV camping sites at Honeymoon Island state park By Craig Pittman, Times Staff Writer Tuesday, July 5, 2011 DUNEDIN — Florida’s most popular state park, Honeymoon Island, should be left the way it is with no additional camp sites or spaces for recreational vehicles, a stream of devoted Honeymoon fans told state park officials Tuesday night during a public hearing that lasted about four hours. I have alot of unpaid experience in many, many job areas (eg. sales, cleaning, cooking, babysitting, camp counseling, minor office work) I am very willing and would to get a real job, no babysitting, or mowing the lawn, or dog walking like in all those other questions. I live in Georgia and have transport to Duluth, Atlanta, Loganville, Snellville and any other nearby cities. I would prefer to work in a dine in resterant, a fast food resterant or a store. I am a very hard working, responsible and outgoing person. I can by myself or with other people. I am mildly attractive and can walk, sit and/or stand for hours at a time. I have no problem wearing a uniform or costume and would like a part-time job that pays resonably. I get along well with all sorts of people and have no problem talking for a long time. I can take and give instructions well and am very observant when spoken to. I get good grades and do many chores around the house. Please somebody help me find a good job. God bless!

I want to take my youth group into Mississippi and help with Hurricane recovery. Maybe work with Habitiat for Humanity for one -two days. It wouldnt cost us a thing. We are fortunate to be on the Alabama gulf coast so we can just drive over there.

My problem is, youth camp wiped out my youth account and I am in the process of building a youth room at our church.
I was thinking about having the studednts get pledges for the hours they are going to do mission work. ex. 10 hours working with Habitat for Humanity. I would get them to get like 50 cent or a dollar an hour pledges.
It would build my youth fund back up so I can get the room finished for the youth.

Is it cheap to turn a mission/charity work into a fundraiser?
