What types of insects and bugs live in Montana?
Posted by: | CommentsI’m going to Montana (close to the Missoula area) for a camp in a couple weeks and I’ve heard it’s going to be pretty rugged. I have a giant fear of bugs, spiders, and mosquitoes and I was wondering if anyone can warn me what kinds of bugs live there? Any precautions I should take? I’m definitely taking regular bug spray, but is there anything else? Thanks!

Beginners Guide to Caravanning – Types of Caravans
Posted by: | CommentsThe traditional caravan that we can all recall seeing on the British roads through the summer is the UK built singe-axle âvan, which usually sleeps between two and six people. Larger caravans tend to weigh more and therefore have twin axles. Although the main manufacturers, such as Bailer, Swift and the Explorer Group, are based in the UK, there are also many imports from Europe and America. If youâre considering a foreign import, itâs worth checking that the width of the âvan is not more than the UK maximum of 2.3 metres, otherwise it may be illegal to tow on the UKâs roads. Itâs also worth checking with a few caravan insurance companies as they can sometimes be more difficult to insure.
An alternative to the traditional caravan is a folding camper. These can be easier to tow as they fold down into a trailer. Once on site, they can be folded out to the size of a standard caravan and provide a spacious living area with all the equipment you need. One downside to a folding camper is the time it takes to erect the camper on arrival and fold it down when youâre ready to move on. With a normal caravan, you could have the kettle on and your feet up!
If itâs something compact youâre after, the tiny teardrop trailers prove popular with those with smaller towing vehicles. They are made by a number of manufacturers with models such as the Bedbug, the Danbury Tear Drop and The Pod. Due to their small size, accommodation is basic and more suited to occasional short breaks with just enough room for a double bed and some basic kitchen equipment.
Pop-top caravans are still a good buy, with their lower roof line, they can be more economical to tow. The head-height can be increased by âpopping the topâ and lifting the roof providing ample living space and good levels of equipment.
America is becoming more influential in the caravan market with the introduction of European specification Airstream Silver Bullet caravans. These fashionable looking caravans are proving popular with the younger generations and even celebrities.
If youâre in the market for a caravan, take a look at your options and thereâs bound to be one to suit your requirements. Once youâve chosen your new caravan, donât forget to safeguard your pride and joy with an appropriate caravan insurance policy.
