Question by dex_md: Why would my RV “house” batteries begin to smoke and show water around the cell holes?
These batteries are brand new and installed yesterday. They were installed correctly, two on the left- Positive terminals facing out, two on the right- negative terminals facing out. Wired in series.

smoking well one is not hooked up right my guess would be that or alternator over charging

I have a skin condition that only allows me to sleep on leather, silk or something without dustmites. I want to spend some money on an RV rather then living in Apts., but I need a waterbed. Currently I have to sleep on a leather couch because I don’t know exactly what I can do in an RV. So my question is can you place a waterbed inside an RV to sleep in rather then its usual bedding. We rented an RV and am wondering how long the Fresh Water will last and how often to dump the black tank. There’s only 2 adults. It’s about a 26 foot RV. The drive is 2 days.

I decided to build this to fight back at the electric company. I live in Florida, and if there’s one thing we have plenty of, it’s sunshine. This unit was fun and inexpensive to build, it will run for years maintenance free and provide my hot water heater with pre-heated water, so that it will not have to work very hard (maybe not even at all) to get the water up to desired temperature. I used Google sketchup as a CAD program to design the frame and I’m willing to share with anyone that is interested, just send me your email address.
