I plan to do one more trip this year and don’t want to wait until my pipes freeze – when should I winterize for our climate here in Colorado? And can I travel and camp in my trailer even though I have winterized it (not using water/sewer?)

I have an old pop up camper we just bought this summer and not sure of the proper way to winterize it. We want to keep the mice out and the snow and moisture. We do not have garage space for it and live in WI.

I need to winterize my RV and was told that you could do that using an air compressor as well as RV Antifreeze, but I don’t know exactly how to do this and I wasn’t supplied with the information when I bought it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?

To winterize or not to winterize RV?

Posted by: | Comments (2)

I just bought a brand new travel trailer and would like to take a short camping stint next weekend. We are supposed to have a couple nights with temps going below 30 degrees during the week. I don’t want to winterize, if I don’t have to, as I am going to use the trailer next weekend. Can I leave the furnace on 50-55 degrees and will that prevent the pipes from freezing? I don’t see any exterior plumpbing underneath the trailer on the outside..I believe it’s all on the interior side. I’d rather be safe than sorry and just winterize it but if it’s not necessary, why go through the work and expense. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Whats the difference between regular and RV antifreeze? Will regular antifreeze damage the drains; should I do this over before it is too late?
