My ex is in the army. I use the term ex loosely, as we had a fling, and ended up with a child together. We both get along great. We have both moved on and started our own families, about 600 miles or so apart.
My ex, although he sends child support each month, never gets to wound up about visiting our 6yr old. I have tried to make arrangements to take our son to see him, and have been told that arrangements have been made to come here to see our son… there is always a reason for a change of plans. The last time my ex saw our son was when he was 2 (so 4 almost 5yrs!), and at that time I flew to Texas.
“Mike” is currently in Iraq, and coming home the end of this month to see the birth of his new baby. His wife emailed me and asked if I could bring our son down to visit at that time. I entertained the idea for a bit, but then realized that during the birth of a new baby it probably wasn’t the best of times to go for a visit. I cordially thanked her for the invite and told her that I thought that it wasn’t a good time, as they would have their hands full with a new baby, people visiting and trying to get in as much time together as possible before he goes back to Iraq. I also said that I would prefer during a visit that our son be the focus of his daddy’s attention. I thought I was being fair and understanding to the needs of a military family. She then retorts “fine, just suit yourself, your the one that always wants Mike to see YOUR son!”
I didn’t really have a problem with this woman until now. I feel like telling her, no YELLING at her, that I have went out of my way to try to get my son and his daddy together to be shot down, or had a change of plans (one year my husband and I were driving down there to only get a call that they wouldn’t be available because of an emergency, then a few days later there were pics on facebook of them camping– some emergency). She thinks that the $ 400 a month Mike sends is too much. (I don’t know if she realizes if we went to court I could get much more, but instead would rather try to work things amongst ourselves). She has told Mike’s sister and mother that MY son is in to many activities, that Mike shouldn’t have to split costs with me (such as school and some extracuriculars) and that if my son is going to be in activities that are for boys (my son prefers swimming and tennis, which I guess she considers girl sports, IDK).
I have kept my cool for a while. Now I feel I am about ready to boil over. His daddy has only called him twice since being in Iraq, and when my son puts something on his facebook wall he tends to not respond, but will respond to silly group posts, and his wife’s posts almost daily, so it isn’t like he is to busy. Am I supposed to change our summer plans to take my son there (over 600miles away) when generally where he won’t be the focus of attention and our efforts are not reciprocated in the least bit?
I also think “Mike’s” wife is trying to start stuff (i’m trying to remain an adult and haven’t said anything else to her, except “I’m sorry you feel I’m being ugly about this and I would like to thank you again for the invitation”…. she keeps posting ugly comments on her facebook page, and Mike’s facebook page. What do you think?

Well, I actually am siding with you on this one. Normally I am all for visitation. However, the birth of his new child is going to be the center of his attention and not your son. I think your son after finally being able to see his dad will be more upset that he is being ignored for his new baby. A child’s activities should be something they enjoy or want to learn. Not what one parent thinks they should be doing. She is only seeing that the money being sent to you is money that they don’t have. She knew this going in so if she has a problem let her. If she continues to complain you can always say well, if you and him split how much would their child be worth? I am sure she would want her kid taken care of if (god forbid) they weren’t to make it.

What i would do as President… what do you think?

I would run as a independent, (This is all based on the fantasy that i had the $ to run) for I strongly feel that the party system in this country is a massive problem. I would remind the American people that our first president George Washington stated how political parties would lead to disaster and instead of having a group of people wanting to lead the country you would have a bunch of greedy power hungry people… EXACTLY what we have today.
Now What i would do if i was ever elected to office.
1- Pull the troops out of the war, while keeping an eye on the situation we merely offer input and advice to our allies. we are wasting a lot of money overseas (and don’t get me wrong I support the military, I leave for USMC boot camp in a 2 months) we could use the money saved to help out our education system and research and development…
2- Immigration – Start up a organization that is basically the WPA to help build that wall. and not only across the Mexico/ Us border… this helps solve the immigration problem create jobs, get people paid.
3 – Welfare. All people applying for welfare must prove that they are a citizen, must be actively looking for a job, and can only be on welfare for a limited amount of time. they MUST pay back the money lent (Im not entirely sure how far off this is from today)
4 – The Health Plan. This is always a problem for presidents. you want universal health care. your a socialist you don’t and the poor cant afford it. i have the solution, A Multi-Tiered Health care plan. First- the basic level package that all American Citizens will be guaranteed this insures that all have coverage… Secondly. the ability to improve your health care package by paying. if you do a hazardous job your company will be required to pay FOR you depending on what coverage you will need. Some people will still say that its unfair to the poor, I say at least im trying to give them something.
- Also unfair to the Poor… Taxes… why do we give all these tax breaks to the rich when its the poor and middle class that need them? i say give the tax breaks to those that deserve them. why should somebody who has plenty of money get a break. help those in need!… Also, No tax exemption from churches. while i believe that all should have there own beliefs in life they will no longer get special treatment
-With the money put into education and research and development we can start to find new and alternative energy sources. Using the WPA to equip all skyscrapers with solar panels is a good start. more then anyone else is doing.
-So in my humble opinion and the party system is a fluke, the 2 main party’s have made it so that the American people are split down the middle and constantly arguing. this makes it impossible for anyone to unite and gain power. the parties do nothing more then squabble back in forth about topics that will be easy to solve. abortion? stem cell research? Hell Legalize abortion in all 50 states and use the resources gained to benefit stem cell research, we might be able to help the paraplegic, think of the people that are being held back because everyone else is to busy fighting over whos ideas are better. also just legalize pot… i don’t like it and i don’t smoke it but seriously… Make it legal to smoke in ones home. give it an age limit and tax it… Boom… problem solved.

when did i say i would become king? i want whats best for the American people and would listen to them. if they would want me out before my 4 years are up so be it… and yes congress is a problem when it comes to my ideas… this is mostly what i hope someone will try to do… even though it will never happen. and thank you for the guy who pointed out the flaw in my universal health care plan thats exactly why i posted! to get good legitimate feed back

Which of these acting camps would be best?
Posted by: | CommentsI am wanting to attend one of these camps in the summer of 2011, So while I have a few months to decide which one, I would like to at least narrow it down to two of them out of the three I chose.
- YAC (Young Actors Camp)
-SOCAPA (School of Cinema & Performing Arts)
- NYFA (New York Film Academy)
If any of you have attended one of these camps and could tell me about your experience, that’d be great. And please put why you would choose that camp.
what would make a health bootcamp fun/interesting for you?

So far our idea is new so we are very open to your idea’s on what will make this health seminar of 2-3days more interesting to you as a consumer.
Please let us know what your ideah’s are, we would love to hear from you.
There is going to be sections focusing on diet, exercise, ect.
As part of making it more interesting we are thinking of bringing in a catered meal that u can either learn to make or make yourselves and skin care products.
Would you rather spend your 3 day weekend Camping & fishing?

What Competitive swimming camp would you recommend for the summer?
Posted by: | CommentsI live in the northeastern region of the United States so I don’t want to go somewhere far away like California or Michigan. I looked into the Penn State, Cornell and Hartwick Camps and so far i am left without a decision. I am a competitive swimmer who just wants to focus on technique training and mental preparation for meets and recommendations would be appreciated.
