Cheapest way to stay in Toronto?

I was looking at Glen Rouge campground to camp out, and it’s only $14/day. It’s just two of us, we’re going to spend every day in downtown toronto exploring and enjoying the city. I’m pretty sure we can’t find better than $14/day/night but I noticed public transportation seems out the roof expensive. We’re driving from east lansing, michigan. How’s parking in toronto? expensive? difficult? cheaper to drive and park or to take public transportation from the campground?

Thanks!

I hope you are not coming right now, as the campground isn’t open until May…

There is no public transportation right by the campground – you will have to walk about a mile west to Kingston Rd and Sheppard Ave to get a bus, and then it will take you almost two hours to get downtown. Find a hostel near downtown instead. You can buy a transit day pass for $10 (good for one person on weekdays, but two people on weekends and holidays).

First thing to understand that in may…it’s still pretty cold in Toronto. So keep in mind that you should pack sweaters and extra blankets just incase. Or it could be sweltering hot…it all depends. I live here, I know.

Parking can range from $30-10 per day…or even more depending on where in the city your going. You could in effect take public transit, but as the other person said…it’s a long ride. You can find cheaper places to park all day further on the outskirts of the city and then take public transit around as well. Then at night go back to your car and drive it back to the campground.

    Have fun
