What are the consequences of minor consumption of alcohol in Indiana?
Some friends and I were on a camping trip in Indiana. A ranger drove by and noticed alcohol out so he stopped and walked over to the campsite. We are all 18-19 and enrolled full time in college. He had us dump out the beer cans and brought us over one by one to cite us for minor consumption of alcohol.
I have heard of the diversion program for misdemeanors like this and I am interested and seeking it out. The cop noted how polite we were and only breathalyzed one out of the seven of us who were camping. After he had cited us all he instructed us to move two of our cars to the visitor parking lot. Does this help my case for a diversion program since the officer instructed us to drive. How could I go about trying to get the program? We all have no criminal backgrounds or previous offenses or anything like that. Would I have to ask for a public defender? We all feel very strongly about getting this removed from our records, what are the possibilities of that?
Thanks for your help.

When you are scheduled for court go in and the states attorney will talk to you, tell them you are willing to plead guilty for a deferred sentence and they will assist you.}{
